After walking out of the train station it is easy to see why the cathedral is a big tourist attraction in Cologne. It is huge, and the craftsmanship on most of it is amazing.
After attending a service within the cathedral, I compared it some to my home church, and almost everything about the service seemed like a ritual. Most of the service was set in stone, this is what you say and do, and this is when you do it. The only thing part of the service that seemed as though it could vary was a short little sermon hidden in the middle of all the formality.
This church is also plagued by tourism, a result of the cathedral itself. It is a little disappointing to see people gather around a church only to wonder at the building, and not what is being taught inside.
