Mission

Calvin College Engineering Senior Design Team 10 seeks to expand the possibilities of recreational aeronautical vehicles while portraying God’s love through trust, transparency and stewardship.

About us

Senior Design Team 10 is comprised of four Calvin College Mechanical Engineering students as well as faculty advisers overseeing project details and sponsor Tim Bangma, a design engineer at Unist. In a nine-month time span, the team will be developing a prototype for a VTOL aircraft. This aircraft will incorporate vertical take-off, static flight, kinetic flight, and vertical landing through an internal weight distribution mechanism. This provides stability control with smooth weight transfer, while allowing for the flight of larger air crafts in areas with restricted take off space.

Market

While there are a few products that provide VTOL capabilities, none have shown to do this with a standard airplane body using internal weight distribution mechanisms. Quadcopters are a popular option in this field, but due to the nature of their design they are not equipped with the abilities one gets with a normal RC airplane.
