Swimming on open waters alone is dangerous, especially when swimming long distances. Having a motor boat with a watchman or a kayaker to look over the swimmer is not only inefficient but also not always possible. For this reason, it would be extremely beneficial to have an autonomous device that can ensure the swimmer’s safety.
That is why our team of engineers came up with P.A.L., the Personal Automated Lifeboat. P.A.L. will follow the swimmer on open water swims, giving the swimmer the independence of not needing a second person out on the water with him or her and the security that they will have assistance if needed. Not only will P.A.L. fill the swimmer’s need for a sense of safety, but also safely take the swimmer back to shore if need be.
