Better Late than Never I suppose…

As a high school junior and senior, I was excited for college. It was fun to take college tours and make comparisons. One program that stood out was Calvin’s Summer in Germany program. It was an interesting program from the description. The Summer and other aspects of Calvin, lead me to choose Calvin for college. I told myself that if I did choose Calvin, I would go to Germany no matter how hard it may be. This is one of God’s challenges that he has put in my life. Six weeks in Germany to take an engineering class and a German language and culture class with peers. After being excited and nervous for the program it begins.

Throughout my schooling, I have always held a hope that everybody does well. Some do better than others. More than that always hoped that the class would come together to become a family of sorts. Granted, it would probably be a pretty unusual, and perhaps dysfunctional, family. For a class as a whole I hope that everybody succeeds and works together to learn as much as we can and to become a family. As for personal goals in this class, I hope to learn as much as I can about engineering and pass. So far, I am intrigued and excited to learn more. I don’t think it will be an impossible class, but it will be a difficult one.

I haven’t traveled with groups that often, nor, before college, did I really like to study in groups. I have traveled quite a bit though. I hope to bring my sense of direction to the travel along with making sure that we arrive places on time or well early for travel. To the class, I hope to be able to help those who need it, though so far it has been difficult because of the homework load. Maybe we will have more time in Germany.

My prayer for this group, is that we grow as engineers, not being afraid of a challenge, helping each other, and growing as a Christian family. Trust in God to guide us in our travels and in our learning. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
