When Words Aren’t Enough

We have all been updating this blog with descriptions of our adventures in Deutschland over the past couple weeks. While this is very informative to you, the reader, and us in the future, something has been missing from this blog: pictures. Sometimes it is better to show something than it is to simply talk about it. Over the past weekend, I experienced three things in which this is just the case.

The first two instances happened in Heidelberg. First, when we reached the top of the hill that the Heidelberg Castle was situated on, the first thing we all did was look over the city from the walkway. It was truly a sight to behold. You just don’t get these kind of views back in America. It took a while to get over our fixation on the cityscape.

After we finished touring the castle and ate dinner, Kees, Andrew Z, Sean, Eric, Dan, and myself all hiked up a large hill close to our hotel. On the way back down the hill, we walked past several clearings offering unique perspectives of Heidelberg. PC to Kees for setting his phone on a timer and leaning it up against a branch at an optimal angle to get this shot.

Lastly, there’s the Cologne Cathedral. Everyone has been posting about their experiences there Sunday morning, but I think it would help to put match a face to the name, so to speak. The cathedral is 515 feet high, the second largest in Germany behind the one in Ulm. At night, as you can see, they shine lights up the structure, giving it a somewhat ominous look. It was fascinating to look at.

This is just a glimpse of what we’ve seen during our time here in Deutschland. We will be posting more in the near future. Enjoy!
