Köln Cathedral

Our visit to the Köln Cathedral was eye opening. The photos of the building do it no justice. I could not help but to stand in front of the massive cathedral in awe. The Köln Cathedral is obviously different than my home church because of the size and popularity of it. My church has a slightly smaller location and probably has about 100 people visit it each day, at most. I find it incredibly interesting how many people visit the Köln Cathedral. For obvious reasons, thousands of people want to see the building. But I have to imagine this is somewhat frustrating for the regular members of the congregation. I sat in on one beautiful service but I was incredibly bothered by a large family in the row in front of me that was filming most of the service. It bothered me for just one service, it would drive me crazy if people like that were there every Sunday. Although I was slightly distracted, I did find the service to be absolutely beautiful. The organ music was probably my favorite because I could understand it well. I loved hearing the sermon but I would have found it slightly more interesting if I could understand it. Overall, the Köln Cathedral was a beautiful experience and I loved it, but I would find it incredibly hard to worship there every Sunday.
