Wittenberg

Wittenberg was a beautiful town. The cobblestone streets which are common throughout Germany run through this whole city. The theme of the town is churches.

The home of the reformation was interesting to visit as you thought about the history. The difference between the Catholic and Protestant church seemed to be the formality of the rituals. Both churches have priests dressed more formerly and the service attendees in more casual clothes. However the process of the Catholic church was more formal. The spices along with walking of the cross in. Luther’s church was a little more casual. There were two preachers having a theological conversation in order to convey a point which I feel like is less common in a Catholic church. Luther’s house was interesting as you kinda felt like Luther was the drawing force of tourists to the town. There were a lot of people and a lot of manuscripts. I enjoyed waling through and taking it all in. The festival that was going on while we were there was interesting. Being able to sit in the city square surrounded by some cool architecture. The most impressive structure was still the tower church. Wittenberg was a little different than I thought it would be. The size seemed right, but it seemed like it should have been a little less modern. The churches were old, but the city square felt a little modern.
