Day 1 in Paris – Arrival, City Tour, Dinner, Sacre Coeur, Eiffel Tower

Our continuation of the day started yesterday went well, but most of us are very tired after only a few restless hours of sleep on the plane last night.

After arriving and meeting our bus driver, Joop, the group got lunch at the airport and then when on a scenic tour of the city.  After checking into our hotel that is nice and close to the Eiffel Tower (relatively speeaking!), we headed to a nice French restaurant entitled Cafe du Commerce.  The food was wonderful, but not everyone was excited about the veggie.  We then got a lot of practice traveling on the subway system by heading to Sacre Coeur, a prayer-focused basilica that overlooks the city.  Our final stop was to see the Eiffel Tower close up at night.  Very impressive to see it up close!

Tomorrow we will go up the Eiffel Tower, tour the Palace of Versailles, and then visit the catecombs in Paris – another day full of adventure!

Calvin To Detroit

Aside from some slightly snowy roads, all is well so far.  We are patiently waiting to board our flight that leaves at 8:55pm.  The big excitement came when the group found a Chick-fil-A restaurant not far from our gate!  Many in the group enjoyed some chicken this evening!

When we arrive in Paris, we begin with a bus tour of the city.  After that, we will have a nice dinner at a very nice French restaurant.  Then it is off to Sacre Coeur and a nice view of Paris…
