Summer Program in Germany 2018

I first heard about Calvin’s Summer in Germany Program (SPIG) when I applied to the college. Hidden in the application form was a section that asked if I were interested in the program, it was a simple yes or no response. I thought it could be fun, so I selected “yes”. A few months passed, and after some research I came to the conclusion that the SPIG would be a great opportunity to fulfill degree requirements in both a practical and fun way. With the realization that I have never been outside of North America, I excitedly pursued the program.

On the practical side, ENGR202 (Statics and Dynamics), and possibly the German Culture course, can be counted toward my engineering degree. In my classes I hope to further my knowledge about God’s world around me. Statics and Dynamics will help me to design and analyze physical mechanisms and to evaluate their safety and efficiency. The German class will help me understand and love my neighbors of a different culture.

I have had a passion for engineering for as long as I can remember, and conveniently I have been gifted with a brain that understands it fairly well. As engineers, we work in groups, and sharing what I know is the simplest and best way I (and others) can help fellow engineers.

Being well rested has been a challenge for me in the past, be it poor sleep or the hecticness of life, and a prayer for our rest on this journey would be greatly appreciated. A rest planted in our savior Jesus and not in ourselves.
