When I told my friends back home that I was going on a summer program to Germany, many of them asked: “Why?” Well, because I want to.
Germany has been considered the hallmark of a practical country. There are nations larger, richer with resources, and with larger populations than Germany yet Germany has been one of the most powerful and influential countries in history. I hope to learn as much as I can during my time there. From public transportation to architecture to history, there is much to learn.
As for the group, I hope our class will come back from Germany as a group of people more aware of themselves in the world in terms of culture, influence, and responsibility. I hope that I can contribute with my experience of living in cultures that are not mine. I just wish and pray that we stay safe, don’t get lost, and enjoy our time there.
