First Week in Berlin

We have officially passed our first week in Berlin! These are a couple of things I noticed upon spending some time here.

Air conditioning is very uncommon! Not only is it difficult to locate public water fountains, but finding cooled areas are just not available. I was able to find a cafe that had air conditioning, but was out of necessity as they also sold handmade chocolates.

Beer is indeed, cheaper than water. A 150ml water bottle costs close to 2.00€, while a beer bottle of a slightly bigger size costs 0.36€. If only we had 36 cent beer back home…

We are definitely walking more significantly by taking public transit than using the car as well. My phone showed that I had walked 56 miles in the past week, which is about 8 miles per day.

I will definitely miss the sunsets in Berlin. Towards late evening, the heat finally dies down, and all the stores turn on their outdoor lights. Residential streets (like this) become extremely quiet as people prepare for the next day. Combine that with a 36€ cent beer, and this view appears! It is such a blessing to be here.
