Wittenberg Church

Going to Wittenberg and getting to Worship in the church there on the 500th anniversary of the reformation was a pretty cool experience. It was interesting to be in the very place where Luther started the change that engendered my own branch of Christianity. I was a little surprised however, how lacking the church service itself seemed. There was a good amount of people there, but of course it is the 500th year anniversary so that is expected. The service was decent, but compared to the immensity and fluidity of the High Mass service, it seemed a little lackluster. Church attendance in Europe has been dropping and it is sad that even the birthplace of the reformation couldn’t do a better job at keeping members and especially gaining new ones. Overall, it was a very cool place to visit and I would definitely go again, but I was honestly a little disappointed with how the church itself seems to be failing.
