As I think back on the trip, I keep thinking of the stories of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. In The Hobbit, Bilbo jumps from adventure to adventure without any time to catch his breath. That is very similar to how the Germany trip was set up. Every weekend we were of on some new adventure.
People always ask what your favorite part of a trip was, but in all honesty I can’t say that I have one. The entire trip was exciting and new, and everything about it good and bad was what made it so memorable. I was so thankful that I got to experience Germany. I am so thankful for everyone who supported me to help make this crazy dream of mine a reality.
You know it’s funny being back now though. Things that seemed strange to me when I first arrived in Germany had become so common that now it seems weird not to have them. It reminds me of a quote from Gandalf at the start of Bilbo’s quest; “you may return, but you will never be the same.” I guess that is why it was called there and back again. The return is just as important as the journey.
