A Picture is Worth a Thousand Word

Facebook so far has been the main way I have contacted my friends and family back home to show what I have been doing so far in my time in Germany. Many of these pictures though only show the sightseeing part of this program. Many of the everyday activities are left out of my picture dumps, so here is a quick update in all I have been doing as seen in a few pictures.

To say the least, we are now regular customers of Oriental Snack, the nearby döner  stand. Also on the topic of meals, I am continuing my peach tea addiction here in Germany.

I couldn’t have asked for a better group to be on this journey with. Each weekend outing has been an incredible experience. This picture comes from our German class outing to a monument overlooking the city where FLAK guns sat in WWII. Shout out to Clay Lockwood for joining me in making a bunch of Psych references.

Although we do an adequate amount of tourism, we are still students of Calvin College and TU Berlin. Engineering class takes place in the morning from 9 to around 11:30. We have now moved into the dynamics section of the class, taught by the exceptional Professor Nielsen. Professor Nielsen’s stories never fail to entertain, but we will definitely miss Professor De Rooy’s humor and Professor Plaisier’s pure encouragement. We then have a break to get lunch. I often go to the Mensa (cafeteria) to get some pasta and fruit. Then, I have German class in the afternoon. Christoph, my section’s teacher, keeps the homework light, while working on our everyday communication skills.

Although Germany has been great, I have been missing my friends and family back home. This sign advertising for Old Route 66 and Pontiac, Illinois, gave me so much joy. It’s not everyday you see and advertisement for Central Illinois!

Finally, as Hannah said, photobombing is always a threat. Here is a pic of the Brandenburg Gate, featuring Andrew Zerull.
